Deep within the mesmerizing rolling fields, lived a young shepherd. His being was unadulterated, and unsophisticated. His primary duty was essentially to tend to his herd of sheep.
Their gentle baas and the whispering of the wind among the solo tree on the hilltop were his main companions. Day after day, watching over his wards inculcated in him a feeling of calm satisfaction.
Yet, there were at times moments of solitude, when the shepherd boy would long for fellowship. In one such instance because of sheer boredom, the shepherd boy orchestrated a mischievous plot.
Stories of predators prowling on sheep had long been circulating in the town. So, the boy decided to exploit this fear and played a joke on the inhabitants.
One morning he website ran into the village shouting “Wolf! There is a wolf attacking my sheep!” The frightened villagers rushed up the hills to help but saw no wolf.

Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but could protect only few of his sheep. Devastated, he went back to the village only to receive a reprimand on honesty and the consequences of dishonesty.
The story of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the value of honesty, the consequences of lying and the dangers of crying wolf. Moreover, it stresses how trust once broken, is hard to earn back. It's a story as pertinent today as it was anciently.
